Orientation course germane to NYSC operations – DG

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim has said that Orientation Course is germane to the operations of the Scheme.
The DG disclosed this at his virtual address of the 2021 Batch B Stream II Prospective Corps Members and Camp Officials nationwide.
He maintained that the essence of the NYSC is for national unity and integration, as such, Corps members must not lobby to be rejected when posted to their places of primary assignment after the Orientation Course.
The NYSC boss urged corps members to initiate, choose and execute viable projects in their host communities to leave lasting legacies.
“Meet men and women of goodwill to sponsor projects. Remember, you are not to use your funds to carry out projects either individual or group”, he said.
He added that to win awards, corps members must not relocate out of their original state of deployment.

On adherence to Coronavirus (COVID-19)? safety measures, the Director-General said the Federal Government had spent hugely to ensure that camp participants are screened and tested before being admitted into the Orientation Camp.
Speaking on Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, encouraged young members to respect the dignity of labor by taking the Programme seriously. He maintained that Ex and serving corps members have done a lot under the SAED Programme and are still doing well with the various skills sets.
The NYSC Boss also advised them to use social media wisely and not for cutting corners as it does not pay and tarnishes one’s image.
He also cautioned them not to embark on unauthorized journeys, adding that proper permission must be obtained from the State Coordinator before traveling outside the State and vehicles be boarded at designated motor parks.
