Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, this year’s showcase leaned heavily on art history, avant-garde design, and bold storytelling, reinforcing the idea that fashion is not just style—but art in motion.

Among the standout appearances was Rihanna, whose look drew inspiration from Maison Margiela Artisanal 2025 designs, blending high fashion with sculptural elegance. Beyoncé stunned in a custom creation by Olivier Rousteing, while Tyla turned heads in a Valentino piece designed by Alessandro Michele.

Actress and singer Teyana Taylor brought bold sophistication in a custom Tom Ford design by Haider Ackermann, while Cardi B embraced high drama in a Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2025 ensemble.

Pop icon Madonna paid homage to art history, channeling the surrealist works of Leonora Carrington, while model Adut Akech wore a striking Thom Browne creation symbolising the evolving form of pregnancy through layered organza.

Rapper Doja Cat and others continued the experimental trend, while Bad Bunny sparked conversation with a theatrical “old man” transformation that blurred the lines between costume and identity.

Tennis star Naomi Osaka showcased two custom looks by Robert Wun, alongside Lisa, who also wore the designer’s couture. Sam Smith appeared in a Christian Cowan ensemble, while Janelle Monáe made a bold artistic statement, turning costume into commentary.

German supermodel Heidi Klum took performance art to another level, appearing as a “living statue,” further blurring the boundaries between fashion, sculpture, and spectacle.

The 2026 Met Gala reaffirmed its reputation as fashion’s most daring stage, where creativity knows no limits and every look tells a story. From surrealism to cultural symbolism, the night proved once again that fashion is not just worn—it is experienced.
