Arsenal Celebrate First Premier League Title in 22 Years Despite Champions League Heartbreak

Tens of thousands of Arsenal supporters filled the streets of London on Sunday as the club celebrated its first Premier League title since 2004 with a victory parade across the city.

Dressed in the club’s iconic red-and-white colours, jubilant fans lined the streets of north London to catch a glimpse of the players and coaching staff as they paraded the Premier League trophy aboard an open-top bus.

Supporters sang club songs, waved flags, and set off flares as they marked the end of a historic campaign that saw Arsenal crowned champions of England for the first time in 22 years.

Many fans climbed trees, rooftops and traffic lights to secure a better view of the celebrations led by manager Mikel Arteta and his players.

The celebrations came less than 24 hours after Arsenal suffered disappointment in the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest, where they were beaten on penalties by Paris Saint-Germain following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Despite the defeat, supporters remained proud of the team’s achievements throughout the season.

“I’ve waited a long time for this,” one supporter said during the parade, adding that while the Champions League loss was painful, winning the league title remained a special achievement.

Arsenal secured the Premier League crown on May 19 after second-placed Manchester City dropped points against Bournemouth, ending the title race and confirming the Gunners as champions.

The north London club had hoped to complete a historic double by adding a first-ever Champions League trophy to their domestic success. However, those hopes were dashed when PSG prevailed in the final.

During the match, Kai Havertz gave Arsenal an early lead before Ousmane Dembele equalised from the penalty spot. The contest eventually went to a shoot-out, where missed penalties proved costly for the English side.

Arsenal’s league triumph ended a long wait for domestic glory and came after the club had finished runners-up in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons.

For many supporters, the title parade provided a fitting celebration of a campaign that restored Arsenal to the summit of English football, even as the quest for European glory continues.
