Her Excellency, Fatima Umar Bago, has held an interface with female political aspirants in Minna as part of ongoing efforts to promote women’s participation in politics and leadership in Niger State.
The meeting, held at her office, brought together women aspiring to elective positions across various constituencies in the state and provided a platform for dialogue, mentorship, encouragement, and collaboration aimed at strengthening women’s representation in governance.
Leading the delegation, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hadiza Idris Kuta, said the visit reflected the growing determination among women to contribute meaningfully to the political and developmental progress of the state.
She commended the First Lady for consistently supporting women empowerment initiatives and creating opportunities that encourage women to seek leadership positions.
In her remarks, Hajiya Fatima Umar Bago praised the aspirants for their courage and commitment to public service, urging them to remain focused and determined in their political journeys.
She stressed the importance of unity, mentorship, and mutual support among women, noting that collective efforts remain essential for increasing female representation in leadership and decision-making processes.
The First Lady also reaffirmed her support for programmes and initiatives aimed at empowering women politically, socially, and economically in line with the vision of inclusive development in Niger State.
The session gave the aspirants an opportunity to share their experiences, aspirations, and concerns ahead of future political engagements.
Among the aspirants present at the meeting were Aisha Mohammed Nabiu of Bida South Constituency, Naomi Dauda Lagado of Shiroro Constituency, and Khadija Ummi Abdulraheem of Chanchaga Constituency.
Others previously involved in the race but no longer contesting included Zainab Yahaya of Munya Constituency, Maimuna Raji Egigogo of Lapai Constituency, and Fatima Isyaku for Chanchaga Federal Constituency.
